Recent weather conditions have brought record amounts of rainfall and devastating flooding across Western Washington during the past weeks. Many homes in the area have been impacted by the flood waters and now find themselves with saturated flooring, carpets, and basements.

Retrotec is located in Everson, Washington, where hundreds of local residents have been greatly affected, with many homes near the point of being condemned. To make matters worse, supply chains have been affected due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and residents are unable to receive adequate supplies to help remedy home problems. Retrotec recently wrote an article identifying useful methods to properly dry your home after a flood.

We spoke with local resident and businessowner of Valley Tap House in Everson WA, Cindy Morgan, who has been donating her time and efforts to support the community. Through her efforts, Retrotec is able to provide a number of our blower door fans that will be used to dry affected homes.

When asked where others can donate or assist, Cindy mentioned the new relief support system, Whatcom Strong.

How to Help

WhatcomStrong.com was recently launched to support the community with flood relief services. The new website outlines volunteering opportunities and updates about the flood. It also serves as an area for affected people to request for assistance.

Whatcom Strong has opened up a new Donation Center, where a person can donate accepted items such as:

  • Household items (Cleaning Supplies, Kitchen supplies)

  • Clothing – new or nearly new condition only, completely free of stains, holes and pilling. Buttons and zippers must be complete and functioning

  • Toiletries – unopened
  • Feminine products
  • Diapers, wipes, rash cream – unopened
  • Small appliances and electronics – must be new and in the box
  • Furniture, beds, coffee tables, night stand – new or in very good condition
  •

We’re proud of our local community’s efforts and encourage those who can help to partake.
